Come join us for awesome group activities, games, creative projects, and lots of outdoor fun for grades 1-7. BNH is offering a fun-filled with a safe & reliable summer program that provides all sorts of enjoyable activities. We are committed to the well-being of your children while focusing on making more amazing summer memories and offering a full range of opportunities for children to Play, Grow, Laugh, & Learn!

Cooking Class with Francesca (Online)

Join BNH North House for a fun and hands-on cooking class led by the highly experienced and passionate cook, Frantiska Cignerova. In this class, you will learn to cook some simple but delicious dishes, get useful tips and make new friends.

The Thursday sessions start on September 9-30, 2021 from 10:00-11:00 am. We will have a new recipe for each session, and you can get the whole family involved. All skill levels are welcome! Join us as we cook together, from the comfort of our own homes! Enjoy some simple recipes and good conversation. This workshop is recommended for Newcomers, immigrants and refugees although everyone is welcome.

We are in the summer break during July & August, please join us again in September 2021.

Qi Gong (Online)

Discover some basic concepts of Qi (vital life force energy). Qi Gong focuses on breath and movement to open up the energy flow in the body. These gentle movement routines can add to anyone’s repertoire for health, stress management and fitness. These routines even alleviate lower blood pressure/cholesterol and improves digestion & respiratory conditions. Join us in enhancing your own awareness about energy!

Seniors Connections (a telephone-based social program for Burnaby residents 55+) (Online)

Formerly “Seniors Centre Without Walls” – Join our interactive telephone-based program to socialize, learn, laugh and create connections! Seniors Connections is available to seniors living in Burnaby who are experiencing barriers in accessing community resources to stay active and independent. Session topics include Mindfulness & Meditation; Travel; Safety, Privacy and Rights; Explore Burnaby and more! Each session is around 30 minutes long.

On the day and time of the session you have registered for, you will receive a phone call informing you that the session is about to begin. To join the conference call, just dial ‘1’ when prompted! It's as easy as that. No need to remember multiple phone numbers or access codes!

Supporting Older Adult Readers - SOAR (Online)

In partnership with Burnaby Public Library, Supporting Older Adult Readers (SOAR) is a paired reading program for Burnaby seniors interested in connecting with one another through various literary topics and books. Pairs choose a book, story, or poem to read and discuss together. Not sure what to read – book selections are available!

Seniors Group Chat (Online)

The coronavirus is changing how we live our everyday lives. Being inside the house may be difficult for some people who are used to going out to meet their friends or being active outdoors. With many places closed and some events called off for the unforeseeable future, it also highlights how much we all need social connection. That is why we’re doing the best we can to help seniors stay connected.

Please join us for a virtual group chat via Zoom to meet new friends and help keep the mind active! This chat room can serve as a portal to meet new people, share interests and remain social. Mother Goose Program (Online)

A fun group experience that introduces parents and their babies & toddlers (aged two and under) to the pleasure and power of using rhymes, songs, and stories together. Parents and caregivers gain skills and confidence that enable them to create positive family patterns during their children’s crucial early years. Family Place (Online)

Families will have the opportunity to connect with and support each other in our community. With the same nursery rhymes, story time and a wide variety of kid activities that support your child development, our goal is to make our families feel like they’re right back at our Family Drop-In – but in the comforts of your own home! Positive Parenting Skills Program (Online)

Raising children isn’t always easy. Parenting workshop is not just for young or inexperienced parents, but it is for everyone who wants to be a better parent.

Hosted by BNH's Settlement & Integration Program, the Positive Parenting Skills program helps parents with practical strategies, set their own goals, and become confident in their ability to manage parenting issues. Because we know happier families lead to better relationships and successful kids!

All parents are welcome to join us every Tuesday from 11 am – 12:30 pm.

Through informational workshop facilitated by Mona Alharbi, you will:

  • Learn how to grow a better relationship with your children

Hosted by BNH's Settlement & Integration Program, this in-person support will provide Arab learners with the opportunity to learn how to use computer/tablet/iPhone and advance their digital skills.

The program is designed to increase the confidence, skills & online safety for Arabs who have little or no experience with digital technology.
