Childhood Anxiety and Depression Workshop

Are you a parent or caregiver with a child between the ages of 0-6? Join us for our latest parenting workshop, in partnership with Cameray Child & Family Services, about understanding the development of childhood anxiety and depression. This workshop will provide you with the tools and resources to support your child’s well-being and mental health.
This workshop will run on July 28th from 10:30am to 11:30am at our North House. Please see the poster for more details.

Drop-In platform: First come, first serve | Room Capacity Limit: 18 families | No registration required | Masks are still strongly recommended.
We offer a number of Family Drop-in programs throughout the community for parents/caregivers with children 0-5 years. Family drop-ins provide a variety of opportunities for families to socialize, to have a safe and fun place to play and learn and to get parenting information. Feel free to join us at any days and locations outlined above.

Neighbourhood Outreach
Support is available to families with children 0-12 who need help accessing community information and can assist families to connect with local community programs and services. Outreach workers are available in North and South Burnaby. Please call (604) 431-0400 or see our brochure for more information.
Outreach Services for Families with Children 0-12
- Phone check ins
- Grocery shopping and other essentials for families who are isolated and can’t get out but can afford to pay
- Food security for low income families – delivery of donated food bags to families who are isolated.
- Support with connecting to any other needs that are identified.
- Virtual programming, will include – groups; children’s activities; parenting resources – connections to partners who are doing programming.
Family Access Interpretation Program
Trained Volunteers are now available to support families with children 0-6 who need help with interpretation. Program is funded by the United Way of the Lower Mainland.

Have an interpreter come with you to a children’s program.

Community Kitchen
Community Kitchen is a weekly program offered at Burnaby Neighbourhood House -South and Gilmore Community School that involves cooking, eating, and lots of great conversation and laughter. Families or individuals who have limited income join together to prepare healthy meals to take home, and to have lunch together. We always use everyone’s favourite family recipes and include many kid-friendly foods. Free childminding is available.

Mother Goose Progam
Wednesdays | 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm | In-person at BNH South House |
The Mother Goose program teaches parents and their young children how to use rhymes, songs, and stories to bond and have fun together.
The Program supports parents and families raising young children by promoting positive parent-child relationships, increasing parent’s confidence and emotion regulation skills, and developing social support systems for parents.
This 8-week program will run on Wednesdays at BNH South House at 4460 Beresford Street, starting September 20, 2023.

Bridges Pre-school Program
Fridays | 9:30 am – 11:30 am | In-person at BNH North House |
This exciting new program is aimed to help children get familiar with a pre-school-like setting – understanding routines and general practice, like circle-time. They get to play, listen to stories, and take part in a variety of fun activities. At the same time the parents will have separate sessions with various community partners, so they learn about local resources, as well as connecting with other parents in similar situations to themselves.
This 10-week program will run on Friday mornings at BNH North House, at 4908 Hastings Street, starting September 22, 2023.

Family English Conversation Circle
Fridays | 10:00 am – 11:30 am | In-person at BNH South House |
If you are a parent or caregiver looking for practice speaking English in a community setting, this program is for you! Running every Friday in October (the 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th) at our Burnaby South Location, 4460 Beresford Street, from 10:00am – 11:30am.
This program is conversation based, and your kids are more than welcome to join!
