Join us for one of our Pecha Kucha Workshops:

 1) Inspiring Local Communities for a Better Future – Pecha Kucha presentations on social justice and civic activity projects
Presenter:
Matti Cantell is the director of the Multicultural Activities Sector of the Finnish Federation of Settlement Houses.  He has also worked for other equality, diversity and global-education related organizations and projects.  Currently, he is in charge of the development cooperation and education-related activities in Tanzania and Finland.  He also coordinates equality and diversity-related activities within the Settlement work in Finland
Pecha Kuchas followed by discussion:
1. The New Locality Project:  a 5-year project for developing civic activity with the people of local communities.  The objective is to realize forms of cooperation between NGOs, the municipality and local communities an area-based way.
2. Social Housing and Community Work:  The objective of the housing services of the settlement movement is to create homes for different people in diverse life stages through various support measures.  A community worker provides support to tenants and encourages them to participate in common activities.
3. Still Going Strong Together:  A 4-year project to develop a training and action plan for peer support among over-60’s.  Our project is developing communal peer support for seniors in a local-based way, through civic activity methods.
4. Tales from the Uluguru Mountains:  A partnership project in improving the learning and teaching environment in primary schools in remote rural areas of Tanzania
2) Youth Pecha Kucha
Metro Vancouver Neighbourhood House Youth Workers will train as Mentors to support Youth in the design of Pecha Kucha Presentations. This capacity building workshop was hosted and facilitated by Steven Cox from Cause+Effect and Pecha Kucha Vancouver.
Join us to share in the inspiring voices of our Youth, presentations showcased during two workshops scheduled for May 7, 2014.
