What is  “Art Crawl  Burnaby Heights” all about?

It is a celebration of local art, artists and art lovers in Burnaby and the region.   For two days this fundraising and community run event brings together not only Burnaby artists,  but also local merchants, resident volunteers and art lovers galore.   This project is a vital step towards building a stronger community through the arts.  

 

Why an Art Crawl?

In 2017 the North House, guided by a resident steering committee,  wanted to ensure that current programs and services were responding to local needs.  Our 2017 North Burnaby survey ranked Arts and Culture among the top elements missing in the neighbourhood.  Our popular Art Wall exhibition space that is open to local artists, was the first step to address this need.  Building on this successful program, the Art Crawl will continue this mission and raise much-needed funds to keep the North House open.   By placing art at the forefront, we create a vibrant and thriving economy, our neighbourhoods become livelier, communities are revitalized and residents and visitors are more connected.

How to participate?

        • On Friday evening grab your tickets for our VIP Art and Wine Tasting event happening from 6:15 – 9 pm. Be the first to meet local artists, purchase original artwork, enjoy live music, light refreshments and wine samples courtesy of Blasted Church Winery.

  • On Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm, bring the family to the free, all-ages Art Crawl for a chance to get to know the artists and local merchants and take home your favourite works of art.    

 

Attention Call to Artists!

Whether self-represented or working with a gallery, artists are increasingly expected to work towards generating buzz and followings for their work.   We are inviting submissions from Burnaby artists (age 18+) working in 2- and 3-D media to exhibit and sell their art.  Benefits of participating in our Art Crawl are;

  • Exposure to art lovers and art buyers
  • Exhibition space and 100% of sale revenue
  • Name included in Burnaby Now feature promotion
  • Artist featured Social media posts
  • Introduction to local merchants for potential gallery space
